WE LOVE OUR FARMERS MARKET.
We love being a part of Community Farmers Market. It is a market that truly does what the name says - works for the community - and we couldn't be prouder of the things they are accomplishing. The new indoor market just opened a few weeks ago, and it is an amazing space FULL of vendors with local produce, eggs, meat, milk, cheese, pottery, ice cream, artwork, maple syrup, bread, coffee, waffles....yep. It's the best.Although we slow down in the winter in terms of the CSA and market sales, we are excited to be attending the indoor market often as PATRONS!- Hannah.
BRINGING IN THE HERBS.
I cut the last of the herbs from our garden this week and brought them in to dry. We are admittedly running out of places to hang them; all the windows and exposed beams are already at capacity. I had to get a bit creative, hiding bunches on the shelves and coat hangers. I also gathered some of the potted plants indoors - but this usually doesn't go so well. For some reason, we (farmers who can grow acres of vegetables) can't seem to keep a potted plant alive indoors even for a few months. Maybe this year!- Hannah.
NEW TO THE FLOCK.
In yet another case of bartering being the best, we received some new chickens from one of our dear CSA families (who have the sweetest blog) a couple weeks ago: two Black Australorps and a Rhode Island Red. Although the Red was the recipient of a surely traumatizing hawk attack on her first day here (welcome to the farm!), everyone is doing fine and getting along with the gang.
