WENDELL WEDNESDAY.
It was like springtime here in Nashville yesterday, so we got a lot of work done with the cedar shake project. Wendell was a big help, as always.- Hannah.
WENDELL WEDNESDAY.
Thank you for all the kind words for Wendell this week. He is feeling much, much better! The vet confirmed that it was indeed a food allergy, but it had flared into a bacterial infection - with one especially bad spot near the top of his tailbone. Poor guy! He came home from the vet with some medicine and a shaved butt, and the improvement was almost immediate. Wendell has his energy back and has been running us ragged around the neighborhood, chewing up all of my knitting yarn, and generally being a puppy again. It is such a relief to see the light back in his eyes.That being said, we cannot recommend a raw diet highly enough. We fed Wendell pretty much nothing but meat and eggs his whole life, and these problems started the day we switched him to kibble (an expensive, organic brand nonetheless!) Do some research about what is in your dog food....just like with people, the higher expense for the food is justified in less trips to the vet/doctor.- Hannah.
WENDELL'S BIRTHDAY WEDNESDAY.
Wendell is turning ONE YEAR OLD this weekend! We really can't believe it. Wendell came into our life at a time when we were floundering, feeling depressed and unsure about what was going to happen with our farm and our future. This puppy truly is the only thing that got us through some dark times - it sounds silly, but he gave us so much happiness and a purpose.And on a sadder side note, we would really appreciate your prayers and kind thoughts for the little buddy - he has been having some severe issues as the result of a food allergy and there is nothing as heartbreaking as a sick puppy. We have switched him back to his raw food diet, but he is slow to feel better. He is going to the vet tomorrow to make sure it isn't something more serious...we will update you on his progress.We love you Wendell! Thank you for getting us through this year. We can't wait to move you to your new home in Bugtussle!- Hannah.
