ONE TRIP AROUND THE SUN.
We sure have been busy lately - especially considering that this is our "off-season!" A lot of travel has been packed into the last month - doing restaurant deliveries, driving to Memphis and Chicago, visiting and celebrating with friends and family. This week it all culminates in our wedding anniversary (four years!), Christmas, and of course, Further's birthday today. Needless to say, the blog has been a little silent. We'll catch up with you soon, I promise. But today, simply this: Happy birthday, Further! We can't believe that you are one already, although we can't remember what life was like without you. And happy holidays to all of you!-Hannah + Jesse.
BELATED.
This is belated, but I wanted to say happy birthday to this guy. His birthday was on Sunday, and here's how he spent the day: chasing Trousers around the yard with a stick each time he escaped from his paddock, hauling over 1000 pounds of sweet potatoes and regular potatoes upstairs to our loft in the cabin, chopping firewood and kindling in the rain, moving the turkeys into a new part of the garden, and harvesting sweet peppers and spaghetti squash. Happy birthday indeed! Jesse is the hardest working person I know - this is a pretty typical day around the farm. I am constantly amazed at how he provides for our little family and couldn't be prouder to know him and work alongside him every day. Happy birthday Jesse! I love you and here's to the next year - I think it's going to be a good one.- Hannah.
BIRTHDAY PROJECT.
For my birthday this year, Jesse got me some yarn specifically for the purpose of dyeing - a project we have been talking about for awhile. We have dreams of having our own wool sheep and shearing, spinning, and dyeing our own wool!We spent a few days playing with the yarn (following these instructions) and experimented with black beans. Although the yarn did not turn out ANYTHING like what I was expecting - a sage green/blue - I really love it and am excited to try again! This time, we are using goldenrod!- Hannah.
FOUR.
This little Olivia just turned four last week. I kind of can't believe it. When Jesse first interned at Bugtussle, she was just 6 months old! We were happy to join in the celebration, spending a cold afternoon with some chocolate cake, chai tea, and some of our favorite people in this world.Happy birthday, Livi.
