FARM TOURS and NO-TILL FIELD DAYS!
WHAT IS IT: A No-Till Tour of Rough Draft Farmstead discussing living pathways, mulching options, fertility management, and more!
WHEN IS IT: Three dates to choose from :
Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 (1pm-4:30pm) - No-Till Field Day: Working with Difficult Soils
Working with clay soils? Poorly draining ones? Or maybe it's that your garden is dry and rocky. Whatever the case, in this field day we're going to show you how we have shaped (and in some places continue to shape) the difficult soils in our gardens through various no-till practices. This event will include a farm tour, demos, and general discussion at Rough Draft Farmstead in Central Kentucky.
Tuesday, May 14th 2024 (1pm-4:30pm) - No-Till Field Day: Growing Vegetables in a No-Till System
It's one thing to plant a tree and never till the soil, but it's entirely other thing to have to plant over and over again every year without ever turning the soil over. In this field day, we'll be discussing the various ways we incorporate no-till practices into many different crops––sometimes utilizing different practices for different crops. This event will include a farm tour, demos, and general discussion at Rough Draft Farmstead in Central Kentucky.
Saturday, June 8th 2024 (830am - 12pm) - No-Till Field Day: The Basics of No-Till and Living Soil
The summer can be a time when you're looking around at all the weeds coming through the garden and wonder, "There has got to be a better way". Well, for us that way is avoiding tillage and focusing on soil health. In this talk we'll look around at some of the various ways we manage the soil on our farm from mulching to intensive field plantings and more. This event will include a farm tour, demos, and general discussion at Rough Draft Farmstead in Central Kentucky.
